Clinical Lab Assistant-Per Diem

This position performs venipuncture and capillary specimen collections on patients of all age categories, enters required patient and specimen information into the laboratory computer system, and processes specimens accurately and efficiently. This position requires effective customer service and communications skills. Assure that patients, physicians, and hospital staff receive a warm personal reception and prompt service. This position requires close day-to-day interaction with other laboratory assistants, laboratory technologists and other hospital staff in a variety of duties with a high emphasis on teamwork and communication, both verbal and written. This position serves as an ambassador for the laboratory and must present a professional image at all times. Obtains all necessary information and signatures at the time of sample collection. If entering order into LIS, accurately enters correct test and patient demographics. Correctly and accurately receives samples into the laboratory for testing. Maintains a safe work environment and is familiar with and functions in accordance with hospital policies and procedures for food beverages, safety, infection control, hazardous materials, equipment and supplies. Adheres to policies and procedures regarding the use of personal protective equipment.
