The Laboratory QA Education Coordinator is responsible to the Assistant Director of Lab Administration. He/she works in a self-directed manner to support laboratory leadership to accomplish common purpose and goals. The Laboratory QA Education Coordinator works within the scope of hospital policy and laboratory professional standards. In the area of Quality Assurance, he/she has responsibility for establishing and maintaining the Laboratory Quality Management program and associated measures for housewide and departmental monitoring of quality system essentials. He/She maintains tools for data collection and coordinates activities to track monthly, quarterly and ongoing data and converts it into meaningful information and presentation to laboratory and LRMC leadership. He/She also participates in quality improvement efforts directed by the LRMC Department of Patient Safety/Quailty/Accreditation and supports the activties of LRMC committees and service meetings. In the area of Education, he/she serves as the coordinator for staff development, including the maintenance of the Laboratory Orientation program, the Laboratory Competency program and the Laboratory Education program. Working as an advisor to the Laboratory Committees and LRMC leaders, the Education Coordinator ensures and documents that Laboratory employees are oriented to the work environment with appropriate preceptor and training schedules to accomplish all required competencies for the employee's job roles. He/She serves as a liaison to established student training programs and is responsible for developing new programs. He/She supports the LRMC Department of Education programs for phlebotomy and the Laboratory Point of Care Testing program. He/She also maintains the CEU provider license with the State of Florida for continuing education offerings with required documentation and support of the CE Broker tracking system. This individual will also assess the learning needs of staff to determine appropriate selection of continuing education offerings to support ongoing professional development. The Laboratory QA Education Coordinator may perform other duties as assigned.
