Assists Director with departmental operations which may include but not be limited to fiscal/financial management, quality, service, environment of care/safety, risk management, and human resource management. The Supervisor is a clinical RN who serves as a role model and mentor for the staff. The Supervisor, in collaboration with the Director, is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations of the unit, serves as a liaison between staff and management, assists the Director in determining staffing needs, assesses the quality of care provided, identifies staff education needs, evaluates staff performance, and identifies opportunities for improvement. The Supervisor assists staff in patient care assessment, planning nursing interventions, and problem resolution. The Supervisor supports the organization’s and unit’s vision, mission, goals and values. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses provide a basis for practice.
